AMD has released a new update to its graphics drivers, version 26.8.1 of AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition. This release includes support for several upcoming games and also adds compatibility with a new entry-level graphics card.
The update is now available for download from the official AMD website and through the software itself. Users of Radeon graphics cards from the 5000, 6000, 7000, and 9000 series, as well as mobile versions and integrated graphics (iGPUs) of Ryzen processors, can benefit from the improvements and fixes included in this version.
Support for new games and a new GPU
One of the main attractions of this version is day-one support for Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, which launches on August 27. The game takes advantage of AMD FSR and frame rate generation technologies , and on Radeon RX 9000 series GPUs, up to three times the FPS can be achieved with these features enabled. The performance improvement is especially noticeable on the RX 9000 series , according to the official patch notes.
Additionally, support has been added for STAR WARS Zero Company and early access to the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 open beta. Players who want to try these titles should update their drivers to ensure an optimal experience.
Support has also been added for the new 4GB AMD Radeon RX 9050, a card designed for entry-level systems. This GPU joins the list of supported products and will be available to system manufacturers.
Bug fixes
AMD has used this update to address several issues identified in previous versions. For example, a bug that prevented Marvel Rivals and Subnautica 2 from launching on dual-GPU configurations with Radeon RX 7000 series cards or higher has been fixed. A crash when launching Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III on Radeon RX 9000 series cards has also been resolved .
Another bug fixed affected video recording with Adrenalin software when no audio output device was selected in Windows 10 with RX 9000 series graphics cards. These bug fixes improve overall system stability for affected users.
Availability and download
Version 26.8.1 is available for 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11. It can be downloaded from the official AMD website or via the Adrenalin software. AMD also recommends using the AMD Cleanup Utility if you need to revert to a previous driver version.
The download packages are divided according to the card generation: files ending in 'A' correspond to the RX 5000 and RX 6000 series, those ending in 'B' to the RX 7000 and RX 9000 series, and the complete package 'C' includes all generations. This structure simplifies installation based on each user's hardware.
With this update, AMD is preparing its graphics cards for the most anticipated releases of the season. Radeon users now have access to a version that adds support for new games, an additional GPU, and fixes several bugs. Installing version 26.8.1 is recommended for those who want to play Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, STAR WARS Zero Company, or the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 beta.
