The European Union wants to have a law for drones ready within two years

Many companies feel the need to relocate to other countries to further develop and even implement their autonomous drone projects. With this in mind, and especially considering the increasing popularity of drone pilots enjoying this hobby in open spaces across the European Union, they have decided to allocate more resources to develop new regulations before 2019.

As you probably know, the European Union is not the only one that has found itself in the urgent need to legislately regulate the presence of this type of aircraft in the skies of half the world; without going any further, the United States , last summer, already issued a series of rules that limited and regulated the use of these drones whose weight was greater than 25 kilograms for commercial, educational and scientific purposes.

The European Union sees the need to create rules for the use of drones before 2017.

Another example of the need for this regulation, and how it seems to have arrived too late in the European Union, can be found in China , a country that has also had drone regulations since May of this year, 2017. Since then, it has been mandatory for pilots to register any drones weighing more than 250 grams, whereas previously only drones weighing more than 7 kilograms were required to be registered.

Among the proposals of this new legislation, it should be mentioned that those in charge intend to create a community and automated control space for these aerial vehicles that fly up to 150 meters high so that they can maintain the use of these devices in a safe place.

In addition, the European Union has already begun working together with all member states and even with industry itself to develop safety standards that cover as much ground as possible, including basic community safety standards.
