Once again, it seems that China continues to lead the way in drone technology development. This time, UVS Intelligence Systems has unveiled what it calls the world's first commercially available amphibious drone , a model that, interestingly enough, was developed using a Spanish ultralight aircraft as its base.
To clarify, it should be noted that the aircraft is based on none other than the one created by the Galician company Colyaer , specifically their Freedom S100 model , an amphibious aircraft that UVS Intelligence Systems used to create the model they themselves have named U650 . To carry out this project, the Chinese company had previously purchased all the intellectual property rights to this model from the Spanish firm.

Regarding the amphibious drone, some key technical features include its fuselage, which is made entirely of carbon fiber. This fuselage is 5,85 meters long and capable of flying for up to 15 hours at a cruising speed of 180 kilometers per hour, enough to cover a distance of approximately 2.000 kilometers.
After numerous performance and reliability tests, this unique amphibious drone has apparently finally received the green light for international manufacturing and marketing , which will begin in 2018. The idea is that this model can be used for delivering goods to islands and other territories designated as special cases, although, as the company states, it can also be used for other tasks such as submarine detection.
