As confirmed by Gaudium Press, a group of resident researchers at the University of Liverpool has been working for months to create what may be the most realistic likeness yet of Saint Nicholas of Bari , a popular 4th-century bishop from whom the figure of Santa Claus is derived . To achieve this reconstruction, the team of engineers used a facial reconstruction system and interactive 3D technology.
Thanks to the use of these complex and innovative technologies, the research team at the ' Face Lab ' at Liverpool John Moores University managed to create what is considered to be the true face of Santa Claus. As university professor Caroline Wilkinson commented :
For the reconstruction of the face we had to be inspired by all the historical material that we had at our disposal. This is the most realistic appearance of Saint Nicholas, based on all skeletal and historical material. For us, it is exciting to be able to see the face of this famous XNUMXth century bishop.
Thanks to this work, today we can see what the true face of Santa Claus would be like.
To create this image, the most up-to-date anatomical patterns available were used, along with tissue depth data and computer-generated imaging techniques. Among the most notable features of the possible face of Santa Claus is, for example, a broken nose, which, as Professor Caroline Wilkinson explained :
The external part of the respiratory system was repaired asymmetrically, giving a characteristic nose and rough facial appearance.
