As history clearly shows, warfare evolves over time, driven by the desire of all involved militaries to possess the best technology in order to eliminate the enemy as quickly as possible. Bearing this in mind, it is not surprising that, for example, South Korea has the firm intention of creating a complete army composed of armed drones to counter the growing military threat from North Korea.
This intention was published directly by the South Korean Army's press officers to Yonhap , a well-known news agency in the country. Specifically, they commented as follows:
Next year we will launch a drone combat unit, which will serve to change the rules of the game in warfare. The Army plans to create a new special unit to lead the development of new robot drones.
South Korea will begin developing a unit for its Army comprised of armed drones to deal with the growing threat from North Korea.
The idea that South Korea apparently has with this new division within its national army is to enable its personnel to use drones for two specific tasks: first, to carry out reconnaissance missions, inspecting possible locations under development or being used to test weapons by the North Koreans, and second, to be able to use them to launch team attacks.
