In recent days there has been a strong rumor about the appearance of a new version of Raspberry Pi, called Raspberry Pi 4. This new rumor has appeared after the price and stock reduction in some official providers. This has been joined by the anniversary of the launch of the Raspberry Pi 3 and the second anniversary of the Raspberry Pi 2.
Rumors are rampant, but one of the creators of Raspberry Pi, Eben Upton, has come out to deny such rumors , stating that there will be no Raspberry Pi 4, at least not this year.
Eben Upton has stated in Beta News that the annual release of a new Raspberry Pi model is a myth and that the Foundation's trend is to release a board every three years . This means that the Raspberry Pi 4 will arrive, but not in 2017 as many believe; instead, it will be released sometime in 2019. However, Upton affirms that the Foundation's intention is to release a board less frequently, aiming to increase that timeframe.

So, it seems the one-year gap between the Raspberry Pi 2 and 3 was just a coincidence , but we might see a new model this year. Currently, Raspberry Pi has several models and versions of its board, and while there won't be a Raspberry Pi 4, there could be a new Raspberry Pi Zero or a board that uses the Raspberry Pi base but with a different communication technology like NFC.
Personally, I think the Raspberry Pi 3 still has a long life ahead of it. Even though its rivals are doing very good work, the Raspberry Pi community is very large , which makes the Raspberry Pi 3 ideal for many projects and many users, don't you think?
